Recently there has been a lot of press on the prosperity principle. It basically states
that if you align yourself with the 'Universe' you will attract that which you desire the
most. Well I both agree and agree to disagree with this theory. You see, from what
I have discovered through diligent investigation is that this theory emerged from
L. Ron Hubbard (father of Dianetics). Scientology teachers are subtly trying to
convince us that we are in charge of our own realities. However what they teach us is
that each one of us is a god and THAT I can't abide!
I wholeheartedly agree though that it is possible to attract prosperity into your life.
The fact is that when you align yourself with God and the principles He teaches us
you will see His gentle hand of mercy in your life. What are those principles? Very
simply put the lesson is to align yourself with Love! Yes, love. Love of God, family,
others and lastly yourself. It is when you have a healthy, loving, relationship with
God and family that He is able to share with you from His storehouse.
So how do I know that this is the case? Well let me share with you from my own
experiences. In my early thirties I conducted an experiment that I recommend
you give a try yourself if you doubt the credibility of my findings. For one year I
diligently engaged in private devotions. I began with clearing my mind of all
hindrances by quietly sitting and meditating on such things as the many names of
God. Then after my mind was totally focused on Him I began my prayer time and
followed that with bible reading and study. This was the first thing I would do in the
morning with my first cup of coffee. It was in that way I didnt have to find time but
rather I made time for my devotions. As a result I began to sense God's working
in my life.
One particular event that I recall is when I went to bed one night and I felt a gentle
tug in the pit of my stomach like I needed to get up and kneel by my beside and
pray for a particular pastor and his wife that were heading up a new church plant.
As I was already comfortably in bed I tried to lay that thought aside but it just
kept prodding me and since I couldnt sleep anyway I got up and began praying.
The next Sunday when I went to speak with pastor Tynsdale and his wife they
informed me that at exactly the time I was praying they were meeting with a
lady that was applying for the pianist position that turned out to be a Satan
worshiper. Coincidence? I don't think so.
The next thing that happened was quite similar yet different. I founded a group
of volunteers to mentor new online business owners. In doing so I committed the
group to employ the prosperity principles promised in the Bible. One volunteer
told me that I needed to tone down the 'God-thing' and when I told her I could
not she decided that she was going to disassociate herself. Well it was at that
time that the group began to flourish and today we have over 100 members.
The third thing that occurred is that I committed my business to the support of
a missionary. I promised that missionary before they left on their tour of duty
to Mongolia that I would support them with proceeds from my business. With that
commitment made I began to see my business grow and flourish, so what did I
do? Well, I committed even more of my business income to his support. I set a
goal, if I made X number of dollars in a month I would give twice the percentage.
Guess what happened next? Right, I had aligned myself with the right relationships
and it began to shower blessings on me.
So I say to you, align yourself with the true prosperity principle. Our God is the
owner of the wealth of the universe. So to align yourself with the universe is to
fall short of your goal. Right alignment comes from putting God first, family
second, others third, and yourself last. Remember you can't out-give God.
