The other day while searching for an unrelated file, I ran across an article
with this title that I had written long ago. It was all about copyediting and
why you should have someone else do, at least, your final look-see before
calling any piece done. Seeing that title got me to thinking.
How blinded are we in other areas of our lives? As days evolve into weeks,
and weeks into months and—well you get the picture. What are we
doing so habitually that keeps us from seeing how to break out of the cycle?
What are we missing? Are we blinded by our habits; or are we such
creatures of them that we miss opportunities that could spur us on
to new heights?
Like you I sometimes get so used to doing things one way that I fight the
opportunity to try something that would make things easier or better. My
husband calls it hardheadedness or stubbornness. Well, that may be true but
what is it that makes me stubborn when it comes to change?
They say habits are hard to break but I think they are just as hard to make.
Breaking those habits that keep us from accomplishing our goals takes
visualizing and believing that we can achieve them.
Don't let yourself be blinded by the repetition of failure. Shake loose your
fetters and reach for the stars.
